“Coming into Chicago, our entire team was really excited about racing here. We went to the semifinals last year, and we all know how fast this track can be. Qualifying didn’t go as well as we had hoped today but thankfully, we were able to run a 4.12 in the first round which carried us through the weekend and kept us in the show. I think we’re just getting all the bugs out and working on getting a good handle on the car. I’m looking forward to racing tomorrow and hopefully we can go rounds.”

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (June 25, 2013)— Coming off of two back-to-back race weekends in Bristol, Tenn. and Epping, N.H., the Tequila Patron Toyota Camry Funny Car team is full speed ahead as they prepare for the 16th annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Ill. this weekend, June 28-30.

While the past two races were not as successful as the Kalitta Motorsports black-and-green Patron-backed team would have hoped, the vibe remains positive going into this weekend's race. "These stretches of nonstop races are pretty grueling, but to be honest, we're all so amped to pick up that elusive first win that we like to get back out on the track right away and have another shot at it. We"re all working so hard, and want it so bad. Every weekend that we get back out on the race track we feel a renewed sense of energy and are eager to start each race fresh and on a positive note," said Alexis DeJoria, pilot of the 10,000 horsepower Patron hot rod.

EPPING, N.H. (June 23, 2013) Round one of eliminations at the inaugural NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, N.H. was the setting for an epic matchup between friends, and the only two female Funny Car drivers competing in the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Alexis DeJoria and Courtney Force.

The two women, both in their sophomore seasons as professional drivers, are constantly pitted by the media as rivals, and while both are fierce competitors and hungry to be the best, they'€™re close friends both on track and off.

Prior to the New England Nationals, the two have met in eliminations only once this year, with DeJoria, pilot of the Kalitta Motorsports Tequila Patron Toyota Camry Funny Car coming away the victor, (Rd. 1, NHRA Spring Nationals, Baytown, Texas). In their second 2013 matchup at the New England Dragway on Sunday, No. 14 qualifier DeJoria did not fare as well against No. 3 qualifier Force, running a 4.295-second pass to Force’s 4.128.

“It’s great to be in Epping. I have my whole family out here this weekend and I’m really excited to have their support.”

“Qualifying has been somewhat tricky for us. We’ve been running consistent 4.20’s [seconds, elapsed time], which isn’t as fast as we would like. There are some bumps in the left lane but at least we’re getting down the track. Anything can happen tomorrow. We’re in the show and that’s all that matters. You can win from any qualifying position.”

Tommy DeLago, Crew Chief

“We had a gremlin in the car last night which really hurt our qualifying position, unfortunately. It’s important to run a good e.t. in that Friday night run, so it was disappointing that we couldn’t. I think we could’ve run somewhere between a 10-12 [4.10-12, seconds, e.t.] which would have possibly made for an easier first round tomorrow. But, we’re professionals, and we’ll do what we have to do. We race Courtney first round. They’re a competitive team, but sometimes to be the best you’ve got to beat the best. We’ll go out there tomorrow and take our best shot. Every Sunday that we go out and race, I believe that we can win. We’ll evaluate all of our valuable information, go out there tomorrow, and kick butt.”

tammy o-1EPPING, N.H. (June 20, 2013) – Team Kalitta will be competing this weekend in Epping, N.H. at the Inaugural NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway with much more on their minds than the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

This week the team led by Conrad “Connie” Kalitta lost a dear family member, Tammy “O” Oberhofer. Tammy succumbed to cancer June 18, 2013 after fiercely battling the disease for over a year.

Tammy, husband Jim “O”, and daughter Ashley have been an integral part of the Kalitta Motorsports family for 30 years. Tammy, first serving as the team’s public relations representative and most recently as the team’s office manager, will be dearly missed but her remarkable spirit will remain with us forever.

Doug Kalitta – “My sincere condolences go out to Jim-O, Ashley and their families for their loss.  Tammy, hands down, has been the driving force of making things happen behind the scenes at Kalitta Motorsports. Her passion towards her family and work was second to none, and I believe we had to hire at least three people to cover the work load she did over the years by herself.  I personally will miss her smiling face and that can-do-make-it-happen attitude she displayed in everything she did.”

David Grubnic –“This weekend Kalitta Motorsports we will be racing with heavy hearts as we have lost one of our greatest supporters in Tammy Oberhofer. Tammy recently lost her battle with cancer and she will be dearly missed. Tammy was without question one of the kindest people that I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and was always supportive towards our team’s goals. My sincere condolences go out to Jim-O, Ashley and their families for their loss.”

Del Worsham –“I've known Tammy for 20 years and have never heard a negative thing about her. I am so sad for her family and the entire Kalitta Motorsports family. She was as big or bigger part of this race team than anyone over the last 20 years, and we are all going to miss her very much. I just want to do the best we can and know she will still be watching after all of us.”

Event Schedule:

The NHRA New England Nationals begin Friday for Team Kalitta and all the Nitro-powered pros with two qualifying sessions at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (ET). Two more qualifying sessions follow on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The top 16 qualified cars in each Nitro class will race Sunday in final eliminations beginning at 11:00 a.m.
